Peer Tutoring Program

The Peer Tutoring Program is free to all students who request a peer tutor.  Students simply complete an application, and the Center's staff requests a referral from the student’s instructor.

Peer Tutors

Peer tutors are students who have completed the courses with which they help and have made a grade of A or B in the course.  At the request of the instructor, peer tutors may also tutor students in courses that they are taking.

Peer tutors are recommended by instructors and are required to view a series of training videos. Peer tutors are made aware of the many resources in the Academic Skills Center and are advised to get help or support from Center staff members when needed. Peer tutors earn $7.25 an hour.  Peer tutors are assigned to students according to the free time of student and tutor and the courses.

Working as a peer tutor helps the tutor retain skills, serves as a good resume builder, and provides a much needed service to fellow students.
