A: The North Carolina Community College System is designed to provide an education to all citizens of our state and promotes an Open Door philosophy, making an education attainable by all. You must have a high school diploma or GED to enter the program and placement testing will be required to satisfy prerequisites for some courses.

Q: How do I enroll?
A: WCC has an open door admission policy. New students should contact a counselor in the Office of Admissions, complete an application for admission, schedule placement tests, visit the financial aid office, and contact the Emergency Preparedness Technology program coordinator.

A: If you are interested in promotional opportunities in your current position in public services, this program will enhance your skills in a number of areas. A: WCC is located in Goldsboro , North Carolina . We are approximately one hour east of Raleigh and an hour east of New Bern .

Q: What type of degree is obtained through this program?
A: An Associate in Applied Science Degree in Emergency Preparedness Technology is the end result of completing the program. 65 semester hours of credit will be needed to satisfy the degree requirements along with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00.

A: Our degree prepares graduates to assume entry level positions in the public services including fire, law enforcement, emergency services, and corrections. It also serves as a springboard for promotional opportunities that require a minimum of an associate’s degree. Private sector employers include industry, insurance companies, educational providers, and independent contractor and consultant opportunities.

A: We strive to combine practical, technical, and hands-on application of the course material through the use of the most current technology and standards available.
