Comprehensive Standard 3.7.5: Policies on Faculty Responsibility and Authority
The institution publishes policies on the responsibility and authority of faculty in academic and governance matters.
Judgment of Off-Site Review Committee: Non-Compliance
Comments: The committee finds that documentation provided to support faculty’s responsibilities and authority in academic and governance matters is supported by referring to the Academic Freedom Policy, faculty job description, and listings of faculty representation on standing committees that determine academic policies and governance. The committee is unable, however, to find published policies stating the responsibility and authority of faculty in academic and governance matters.
The onsite committee should review published policies stating the responsibility and authority of faculty in academic and governance matters.
College Focused Response: In addressing the Off-Site committee's comments, regarding the institution's published policy on the responsibility and authority of faculty and academic governance matters, the college’s Administrative Council approved College Procedure Manual 03-0309, Faculty Responsibility and Authority on Academic and Governance Matters at their June 20, 2005 meeting.
As a result, the college certifies compliance with this comprehensive standard.
