About The Foundation
The Foundation of Wayne Community College provides financial assistance for students seeking learning and training opportunities and offers educational and cultural experiences for the community.
Wayne Community College is funded by the tax payers of the State of North Carolina and the County of Wayne, but these funds do not meet all the educational needs of the student. Increasingly, public institutions must rely upon private resources to fund new programs and to enrich the quality of existing programs. With these needs in mind, the Board of Trustees of the College established the Foundation of Wayne Community College in June, 1986.
The Foundation of Wayne Community College is the liason between those who wish to invest in their community and the students of Wayne Community College. Individual gifts fund many unique learning opportunities from scholarships to equipment. Potential Donors are encouraged to meet the executive director and learn the dramatic impact a gift can have on a student's ability to pursue their educational goals.
The Foundation of Wayne Community College is governed by a 25 member board. Foundation Board meetings are held four times a year. Active and committed Foundation board members serve on resource development, internal affairs, community relations and finance committees that meet throughout the year. The Executive Director oversees the operation of the Foundation.
The Foundation of Wayne Community College, Inc. is a non-profit corporation organized under North Carolina and Federal laws in compliance with Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
