As a student in the IST curriculum you would learn theory and practical skills in installing, servicing and maintaining high-tech industrial equipment. We offer instruction in electrical, electronic, and mechanical disciplines to provide you with all the skills you need to succeed in such positions as multi-skilled industrial maintenance tech, automation tech, and controls engineering tech, to name a few.
Many internship opportunities are available, so you can earn while you learn and be ready to hit the ground running when you graduate with your degree in Industrial Systems Technology!

ECU’s Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology Transfer Program
Interested in earning a Bachelor’s? Our Industrial Systems Technology degree qualifies for East Carolina University’s BS in Industrial Technology Transfer Program! Once you receive your Associate in Applied Science degree at WCC, you have the option of transferring your credits to ECU towards a Bachelor’s in Industrial Technology (BSIT). Students will need a scientific calculator and a USB flash drive.
Employment: The local demand for technicians is very high, with more available positions than qualified applicants.
Salary: Starting salaries are very competitive, with a range of $30,000 to $40,000 locally, depending on the industry. Technicians with three to five years of industry experience can make $75,000+.
