Judgment of Compliance: The College certifies COMPLIANCE.
Narrative:
The college has a clear and comprehensive mission statement that guides it; this statement is periodically reviewed by the board and is communicated to the institution's constituencies. The mission statement reflects the comprehensive nature of the college and sets the basis for the college's long-range goals and short-range goals and objectives, which are reviewed and approved annually.
The WCC Strategic Plan Guide requires a review of the mission statement every five years. The steps used in the process are as follows:
- The Planning Council (representative of all areas of the college), utilizing relevant internal and external plan data, reviews and revises, as appropriate, the mission statement and long-range goals for the college.
- Proposed revisions are distributed to all college employees and board members for comments, recommendations, or improvements.
- The Planning Council makes a formal presentation to the Administrative Council.
- Once the final version is approved by the Administrative Council, the President presents it to the Board for approval. This action is reflected in the official minutes of the Board.
The latest revision was approved by the Board on September 24, 2002. The mission statement is published in the catalog, Policies Manual of the WCC Board of Trustees, college web page (Link requires internet connection.), Schedule of Courses, WCC Strategic Plan Guide, WCC Student Handbook, and
