Comprehensive Standard 3.2.1: Selection and Evaluation of Chief Executive Officer
The governing board of the institution is responsible for the selection and the evaluation of the chief executive officer.

Narrative:
The Board, under the authority of North Carolina General Statutes 115D-20(1), elects the President of WCC, subject to the approval of the State Board of Community Colleges.
Title 23 of the North Carolina Administrative Code adopted by the State Board of Community Colleges requires that each local board shall evaluate its President annually and notify the State Board in writing that the evaluation has been completed by July 1 of each year (see sample letter) that the evaluation has been completed. The WCC Board has conducted its evaluation of the president annually, utilizing the Presidential Evaluation form. The most recent evaluation of the President took place in a closed session of the Board of Trustees as is reflected in the May 2004 minutes.
