Four youth camps that will start Monday at Wayne Community College still have space for more participants.
The camps are
* Fashion Camp: An Exploration of Design and Sewing – 9 a.m.-noon, July 11-Aug. 4. Cost: $60 includes all sewing and class materials.
* CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) Academy – 9 a.m.-noon, July 11-14. Cost: $80 fee includes a T-shirt and thumb drive.
* Information Technology Academy – 8 a.m.-noon, July 11-14. Cost: $80.
* Video Game Academy – 1-5 p.m., July 11-14. Cost: $80.
The Information Technology and Video Game academies will be repeated July 25-28 and are still accepting participants in those sessions also.
All of the camps are for rising 9th through 12th graders.

Registration for fall 2016 college credit courses at Wayne Community College will be held July 18-22 on the main campus in Goldsboro.
New and returning students can sign up for classes 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 18, 20, and 21; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on July 19; and 8 a.m.-noon on July 22. Classes offered on campus and the base, as well as distance education courses, start Aug. 18.
Open registration at the WCC Offices in the Watkins Das Base Education Center on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base will be held the same days and hours as on campus. Registration for military personnel only is scheduled for 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Aug. 1-5.
New students must complete the enrollment process, take any necessary placement tests, and be accepted in order to register for classes. The steps that new students need to take are explained at www.waynecc.edu/students-start-here/.
Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible to have the best selection of courses. A complete schedule of fall courses can be found at www.waynecc.edu/course-schedules/.
The next registration opportunities will be 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Aug. 16 and 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Aug. 17.
For those who register in July, fees and tuition must be paid by 4 p.m. on Aug. 1. Payment must be made by 4 p.m. on Aug. 17 for those who register in August.

Wayne Community College Continuing Education will offer a new Phlebotomy Technician course this fall.
The course will train students to draw blood specimens from patients. It is designed to prepare them to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s National Phlebotomy Certification Examination.
Classes will be held 5:30-9:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 15-Dec. 28. A clinical rotation that yields 100 venipunctures and 25 finger sticks is required.
The course costs $180 plus fees. A textbook is required.
In order to sign up for one of the limited number of seats in the fall 2016 course, potential students must first attend one of two information sessions. The sessions are free and do not require pre-registration.
The information sessions will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. on July 19 and noon-1 p.m. on July 20 in Room 161 of the Wayne Learning Center (main building) on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.

The WorkKeys® tests for the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) will be offered five times in Wayne County in July.
The Wayne Occupational Readiness Keys for Success (WORKS) program will provide testing sessions 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on July 12 and July 26, 12:30-4:30 p.m. on July 7, and 4:30-9 p.m. on July 20. All of these sessions will be held in Room 136 of the Walnut Building on Wayne Community College’s main campus in Goldsboro. Pre-registration by calling (919) 739-7004 is required.
Cost to take the set of three skill assessments (applied mathematics, locating information, and reading for information) is $36 but assistance to cover that cost may be available.
The Airman and Family Readiness Center on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base offers free testing to military personnel and their dependents. The next session will be held 1-4:30 p.m. on July 19 at the Watkins-Das Learning Center computer lab. Pre-register by calling (919) 772-1123.
Those wishing to prepare for the NCRC may take advantage of the self-directed instruction and skills upgrade training offered in the WORKS Lab, which also is located in Room 136 of the Walnut Building. The lab is open 9 a.m.-noon on Mondays and Thursdays, 1-4 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 5-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It will be closed on Monday, July 4.
Individuals may earn bronze, silver, gold, or platinum certificates based on their performance on the tests. The NCRC is recognized by employers across the state as a proven measurement of job skills.
Wayne County leads the state, with more than 16,600 certificates awarded. A quarter of the county’s population holds the credential.
WORKS is a collaborative effort of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, Wayne Community College, Wayne County Public Schools, County of Wayne, Wayne County Career Center, City of Goldsboro, and the Eastern Carolina Workforce Development Board.
