Military Night

Room 101, Walnut Building | November 15, 2022 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Wayne Community College will hold an open house for the military community next week.

Active-duty military, veterans, reservists, retirees, and their spouses and dependents are invited to WCC’s first-ever “Military Night” on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

It is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. in Room 101 of the Walnut Building on the college’s main campus on Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro.

During the event, participants can learn about academic programs and tuition assistance options as well as see inside the buildings. They will be eligible for door prizes and will receive a free meal from the new Bison Bistro.

“We want to do something that would give our military-affiliated residents a reason to come to the campus,” said Dr. Brandon Jenkins, vice president for academic and student services. “We want to let know there’s a wide range of opportunities while they are still serving or near their discharge date and looking for their next career, as well as for their dependents,”

Information will be provided on college-credit courses, including those available for high school students through the Career and College Promise program, as well as short-term training with portable and recognized credentials, such as Truck Driver Training and Certified Nurse Aide and Phlebotomy courses.

Campus tours will be conducted at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30 p.m.

Those who wish to participate should reserve their spots at waynecc.edu/militarynight by Nov. 11.
