High school seniors are invited to learn what Wayne Community College has to offer on March 30.
Senior Night will begin at 6 p.m. with a brief information session in Moffatt Auditorium in the Wayne Learning Center (building with flags in front, on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro).
After the half-hour presentation, participants can browse academic programs, apprenticeship options, short-term training offerings, and career counseling that will be set up in the Center’s Atrium. Service areas will also be set up to share information about scholarships and financial aid and to help students start the admission and financial assistance application processes.
The event ends at 7:30 p.m.
“We will have tremendous scholarship and grant opportunities available during the 2022-2023 academic year for all incoming students and would like to use March 30th as an opportunity to share all of these options with potential new students and their families,” said Dr. Brandon Jenkins, vice president of academic and student services. “These opportunities, in many cases, will allow nearly all students to attend WCC at a drastically reduced cost.”
Jenkins mentioned two financial assistance opportunities: the Bison Benefit scholarship that is available to all Wayne County graduates who complete six or more hours of college credit while in high school and the LongLeaf Commitment Grant designed for low-income and working-class families that has been extended to 2022 high school graduates.
Seniors are encouraged to reserve their space for the event by March 28 by signing up online.
WCC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing accommodations or have questions about access, contact the Disabilities Services Counselor at 919-739-6729.
