Julie H. Faucette has been recognized for her service to student success programs.
Faucette, an instructor in Wayne Community College’s Academic Foundations Department, received the 2022 Gladys Shaw Award for Outstanding Service and Support for Student Success from the National Organization for Student Success (NOSS).
The award recognizes long-term service to and support of programs related to student success. It came with a cash award and an invitation to present a session at next year’s NOSS conference.
She had previously received the Hilda P. Barrow Outstanding Developmental Educator of the Year Award from the North Carolina Organization for Student Success, which made her the state’s nominee for this national award.
Faucette has taught developmental courses at WCC for more than 10 years.
According to her nominator for the award, Faucette is passionate about the students she serves and building their self-esteem and skills to move to the next level in their education.
One of Faucette’s accomplishments has been revamping student success classes to implement more study skills, time management, learning styles and motivation techniques for students to not only be successful in college but in life itself.
