The public is invited to a free presentation by gospel singer and educator Mary D. Williams.
Ms. Williams will perform “From Slavery to Civil Rights: An Aural History Tour” at Wayne Community College.
The show is a combination of spirituals, protest songs, and gospel music that takes the audience on an aural history tour from slavery through the Civil Rights Movement.
It is scheduled for 5:15-6:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 in Moffatt Auditorium, in the Wayne Learning Center on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.
The presentation is sponsored by Carolina Public Humanities, Carolina K-12, the Foundation of Wayne Community College, and Wayne County Friends of Public Education.
The event is a component of a two-day professional development program being provided for Wayne County Public School teachers.
It is free and open to the public with no reservation required.
