Wayne Community College will once again host the Mexican “Consulate on Wheels” to allow Mexican citizens to get identification documents.
Personnel with the Consulate General of Mexico in Raleigh will provide limited services at the college Sep. 18–22. This event coincides with National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized annually in the United States to celebrate Hispanic Americans.
The officials will assist Mexican citizens with acquiring certain documents, including:
- Mexican passport (valid for 3, 6, or 10 years),
- High Security Mexican Consular Identification Card, also known as a Matrícula Consular Card (valid for 5 years),
- Certified Mexican birth certificate duplicates, and
- Voter registration: “Instituto Nacional Electoral or INE Card.” The INE card is Mexico’s most accepted identification document, allowing citizens outside of Mexico to vote for Mexico’s President.
They will also be available to provide information to Mexicans and non-Mexicans about the services provided by the Consul General.
Appointments are required. They can be made during the week prior to the Goldsboro visit via the online form at citas.sre.gob.mx or by calling 424-309-0009. Each appointment is for one person. There is no charge to schedule an appointment.
There are fees for some of the procedures and services. To determine costs and what documents must be brought to the appointment, go to the Consulate website at consulmex.sre.gob.mx/raleigh.
