Wanda Nieves of Goldsboro has joined the Wayne Community College Board of Trustees.
Nieves is an educator who taught for St. Mary School for a year and then worked for Wayne County Public Schools for 30 years. She taught World Languages (Spanish and English to speakers of other languages) for 20 of those years and has served as the Title III Lead Teacher for the last 10.
She has also been employed by the college, teaching Developmental Reading, English as a Second Language, and Spanish for the Workplace.
Nieves is a member of the Wayne County Latino Council.
She was appointed to the Board of Trustees by the Wayne County Board of Education.
