Wayne Community College has been rated one of the top community colleges in the nation.
SmartAsset, an investment advisor, has ranked WCC at number 19 on its “Best Community Colleges in America” list.
“SmartAsset set out to find the best community colleges in the country. We analyzed data for 801 schools across the following three metrics: student-to-faculty ratio, graduation and transfer rate and the cost of tuition and fees,” according to Patrick Villanova, a writer for SmartAsset covering personal finance topics.
Villanova also stated that “North Carolina is a particularly strong state for community colleges, with more than half of the schools that rank in the top 25 located in the Tar Heel State.”
Out of the top 50 community colleges on the list, 27 are located in North Carolina.
The 2022 edition is SmartAsset’s ninth study on this topic.
The key findings of the study are:
* North Carolina and Wisconsin have the best community colleges. All 10 schools at the top of the rankings are located in either North Carolina or Wisconsin.
* Community college costs vary significantly. Across the 801 colleges in the study, the cost of two semesters of tuition and fees range from $1,095 to $13,232.
* Overall, about 47% of students across all schools in the study end up graduating or transferring to a four-year school. That rate varies from 71% at the top of the list to 33% at the bottom.
