Wayne Community College’s Workforce Continuing Education Division will explore six subjects during its Junior Bison Camps this summer.
The camps that will be offered this year are:
Allied Health Career Exploration Camp – June 20-23: 9 a.m.-noon for rising sixth-eighth graders and 1-4 p.m. for rising ninth-12th graders. – These camps will provide a general overview of the allied health career field. Campers also will receive first aid and CPR training. Cost: $60.
Animal Science Career Exploration – June 27-30: 1-4 p.m. for eighth graders only. This camp will introduce animal science and veterinary medicine careers. Campers will gain experience through hands-on labs, workshops, team building, animal anatomy, food safety, chicken embryology, and animal care. Cost: $60.
Automotive Detailing – June 20-23: 9 a.m.-noon for rising ninth-12th graders. Campers will learn methods and procedures used in automotive detailing facilities. Topics include safety; engine, interior, and trunk compartment detailing; buffing/polishing exterior surfaces; and cleaning and reconditioning exterior trim, fabrics, and surfaces. Cost: $80.
Business Career Exploration – June 27-30: 9 a.m.-noon for rising sixth-eighth graders and 1-4 p.m. for rising ninth-12th graders. Campers will learn how money works and what it takes to work in business. They will get hands-on experience with a chance to create their own businesses and design a logo. Cost: $60.
Let’s Go Leadership – June 20-23: 9 a.m.-noon for rising sixth-eighth graders. Campers will learn leadership skills through creative LEGO® activities. They will get experience working in teams and leading business projects using LEGO® bricks. The campers will learn what style of leadership they have and how that style works in teams. Cost: $60.
Video Game Academy – June 20-23: 9 a.m.-noon for rising ninth-12th graders and 1-4 p.m. for rising sixth-eighth graders. This academy introduces the various aspects of simulation and game development. Campers will engage in 3D modeling, bug testing video games, creating video games, storyboarding, and animation. They will design and produce game artifacts they can share with family and friends. Cost: $80.
All of the camps will be held on the WCC campus in Goldsboro.
