Wayne Community College has received a Raymond forklift donated by Carolina Handling that will be used in the new Center for Industrial Technology and Engineering (CITE).
The donated forklift will be used to move and store equipment on the mezzanine of CITE’s Workforce Continuing Education space and to unload equipment needed for classes held in the area.
CITE was completed and open for use at the beginning of the spring 2025 semester. Many of WCC’s Applied Technologies programs are housed in the new building.
“The donation from Carolina Handling to the CITE building solidifies the partnership and the working relationship that they have had with the Applied Technologies division for many years,” said WCC Associate Dean of Applied Technologies Todd King. “They have been a long-standing member of our advisory board and actively participate in program advisement and training when necessary.”
King said the new forklift can also be used for training purposes for WCC’s Forklift Operator course. “Occupants inside the CITE building plan to use the donated lift for everyday operations as well as educational opportunities through short-term training,” he said.
Carolina Handling is one of the largest Raymond dealers in the nation. In addition to being a forklift dealer, the company provides consulting, engineering design, installation, and service of automated equipment and technology.
“We appreciate our partnership with Wayne Community College and the opportunity to assist with its continuing growth and expanded offerings to the Goldsboro community,” said James Sanders, Carolina Handling director of operations, north division.
