Wayne Community College’s first ever Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 26 hosted thousands of community members for an evening of Halloween fun.
“We were absolutely amazed by the outpouring of support and participation by the community for our first ever Trunk-or-Treat event,” said WCC Vice President of Academic and Student Services Brandon Jenkins. “We hope all of the families who visited our campus felt safe and had an enjoyable experience.”
WCC’s faculty and staff passed out candy from 38 different vehicles, including a tractor trailer, a forestry tanker, a helicopter, and an ambulance, representing various WCC programs and departments.
Sunday Williams, who attended the event, noted that the huge turnout exceeded her expectations. “Everyone did a great job and was super friendly. I would love to make this a tradition,” she said.
Children came dressed as superheroes, princesses, movie characters, and Halloween classics. Even WCC employees joined in on the fun to participate in a contest for the best trunks and costumes.
Margarita Bautista thought it was a great event for both kids and adults. “I think it went smoothly and was well organized,” she said.
“Events like Trunk-or-Treat allow us to put the ‘Community’ in Wayne Community College,” Jenkins said. “We are already looking forward to next year.”
