WCC’s Office of Communications Wins Medallion Awards

Wayne Community College’s Office of Communications won four Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR).

The Office of Communications won gold awards for their 2023 Fall Fest flyer, a print advertisement for the College’s Aviation Systems Technology program, and the Bison Bulletin e-newsletter. They won a silver award in the social media post category for a Barbie-themed Instagram post.

NCMPR is the leading professional development association exclusively serving those working in communication at two-year community and technical colleges.

The Medallion Awards were presented during the 2024 NCMPR District 2 conference held in Lexington, Kentucky. District 2 consists of 11 states in the southeastern US and three other outlying territories. More than 600 submissions were received in total across all categories for the district Medallion Awards.

WCC Public Information Officer Meredith Futrelle, Office of Communications Director Ken Jones, Creative Services Coordinator Jessica Meadows, and Marketing and Communications Coordinator Bilma Iniguez (pictured from left to right) attended the conference and accepted the awards.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the passion and creativity this team brings to everything they do,” said WCC Office of Communications Director Ken Jones. “These awards reflect not just the talent of the department but also the collaborative spirit and commitment to success that defines our institution.”

WCC’s Office of Communications team members include Jones, Creative Services Coordinator Jessica Meadows, Marketing and Communications Coordinator Bilma Iniguez, Print Shop Operator Charles Gerlach, Recruiting Specialist Madelyn Luethje, and Public Information Officer Meredith Futrelle.
